Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates a vacancy for an experienced Teaching Assistant to assist classroom teachers in the instruction and management of students with disabilities. Must be able to conduct class in the teacher’s absence. This position is expected to be located within one of our local school programs; however, location is TBD. This appointment will include a 4-year probationary period and may lead to a recommendation for Tenure.
Qualifications: Certification as a Teaching Assistant or Teacher (Special Education preferred) required.
Characteristics Desired: Must be able to form positive relationships with students. Experience teaching students with various disabilities, especially those transitioning to adult services. Experience with job readiness preparation preferred. Must be highly organized, dedicated, able to work independently, and able to collaborate in multiple teams. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
