The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh (http://www.physicsandastronomy.pitt.edu/) invites applications for a tenure-stream faculty position at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor. This position will begin in Fall 2025, pending budget approval, and is a nine-month academic appointment that is renewable.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate courses, especially large-enrollment introductory courses and laboratories. Candidates should exhibit excellent communication skills, a passion for teaching, interest in innovative teaching methods and course development, and a record of teaching experience. Familiarity with current research on learning and teaching is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in physics or a closely related field and the ability to teach large undergraduate physics courses.
Responsibilities include: Teaching undergraduate courses (including labs and lectures), supervising teaching assistants, designing course materials, advising students, and assessing undergraduate programs.
