Job summary

Mercer University in Illinois is seeking a Teaching Assistant - Biology to support the instructor in lab instruction and the delivery of instructional materials.

The TA will answer student questions about lab experiments, help distribute supplies, troubleshoot basic computer issues, and assist with cleanup after labs. LAB sections BIO-102, BIO-131, BIO-171, BIO-172, BIO-280, BIO-303, and BIO-460L are available.

Qualifications

• Must seek approval and obtain recommendation by the professor for the course(s) you intend to TA.
• Must have successfully completed the course(s) that you intend to work as a TA.
• Must be dependable and show up on-time.

Responsibilities

• Assist the instructor in providing classroom instruction and organizing the delivery of instructional materials.
• Answer questions from students related to the lab experiments.
• Help distribute lab supplies to the class.
• Assist in the clean-up of used lab materials and equipment at the end of lab.

Job Description:

Teaching Assistants will assist the instructor in providing classroom instruction and organizing the delivery of instructional materials. Tasks include answering questions from students related to the lab experiments Help distribute lab supplies to the class Possess operational knowledge of computers and procedures for re-starting, shutting down, and basic troubleshooting technical issues Enthusiastic and willing to assist other students Assist in the clean-up of used lab materials and equipment at the end of lab

Requirements:

• Must seek approval and obtain recommendation by the professor for the course(s) you intend to TA
• Must have successfully completed the course(s) that you intend to work as a TA
• Must be dependable and show up on-time

Lab sections available:

BIO-102, 131, 171, 172, 280, 303, and 460L

Pay rate: $10.80 per hour Scheduled Hours: 3 Start Date: 08/25/2026 End Date: 05/10/2027
