Job summary

Our Lady of Pillar Catholic School in Kentucky is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and foster a nurturing, student-centered learning environment. Working under the lead teacher, you will help implement daily activities, support student success, and uphold the mission of Catholic education.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent, with college coursework in education preferred; prior experience with children is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or coursework in education preferred.
• Experience with children in educational or childcare settings preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional activities and lesson implementation.
• Provide academic support to individual students and small groups.
• Reinforce classroom lessons and learning objectives through guided practice and educational activities.
• Maintain a positive, safe, organized, and productive classroom environment.
• Assist with classroom management and appropriate student behavior.
• Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal.
• Prepare instructional materials, bulletin boards, and learning displays.
• Assist with grading, recordkeeping, and other administrative tasks.
• Support student assessments and classroom projects.
• Maintain confidentiality of student, family, and school information.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, students, and parents.
• Participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.

Working under the direction of the classroom teacher, the Teacher Assistant helps facilitate daily learning activities, supports student success, assists with classroom management, and promotes the mission and values of Catholic education.

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or college coursework in education or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or related setting preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and staff.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain professionalism.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for students.
• Must successfully complete all required background screenings, safe environment training, and employment requirements.
