Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks a Classroom Aide to support a teacher in a faith-centered environment at Sacred Heart Catholic School. The role involves assisting with instruction, supervising students, and helping with daily routines while promoting academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.

Candidates should have a High School diploma; practicing Catholic preferred; strong communication and teamwork. This is an on-site position at Sacred Heart Catholic School in the St.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or experience in education or child development preferred.
• Previous experience working with children is preferred.

• Ability to follow directions and respond appropriately to student needs.

• Practicing Catholic preferred, depending on school and diocesan requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the student in accessing classroom instruction, assignments, and activities.
• Reinforce skills and provide prompting, modeling, clarification, and repetition as needed.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and support strategies as directed by the teacher or Learning Consultant.
• Assist with transitions, organization, routines, and staying engaged in learning.
• Encourage independence by providing only the level of assistance needed and gradually reducing support when appropriate.
• Promote positive interactions and relationships with classmates.
• Support appropriate behavior, communication, problem-solving, and self-advocacy.
• Assist with personal care or daily living needs when necessary while maintaining the student's dignity and privacy.
• Support participation in specials, lunch, recess, Mass, assemblies, field trips, and other school activities.
• Communicate observations or concerns to the teacher or Learning Consultant and maintain student confidentiality.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the student's educational team.
• Model patience, kindness, respect, and the Catholic values and mission of Sacred Heart Catholic School.

Job Summary
