A Day in the Life of a Teacher’s Assistant
As a Teacher’s Assistant at The Family Place, you’re not just helping with routines you’re helping build a foundation. Each day, you’ll be part of a warm, supportive classroom where little learners feel safe, loved, and ready to explore the world. Whether it’s tying shoes, encouraging potty training, or cheering a child on as they master a new concept, your care and attention make a lasting impact.
You’ll work side-by-side with a Lead Teacher, helping to bring lessons to life and creating a warm, structured space where children feel excited to learn and play. From art time to snack time, from quiet reading to outdoor exploration, your role is essential in keeping the classroom running smoothly and lovingly.

Administrative Responsibilities You’ll Have:
What You’ll Need
High School Diploma/GED and has at least six (6) credit training hours in early childhood education or early childhood development and (6) six months experience as a teacher.
OR
High School Diploma/GED and has three (3) credit training hours in early childhood development and (1) one year of experience as a teacher.
OR
A national competency-based credential such as the CDA (Child Development Associate) and (1) one year of experience as a teacher.
Licenses: Maintains a valid, current and clear Texas Driver's License.
Certifications:
Knowledge and Skills and Abilities:
Mental and Physical Abilities: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs; Visual acuity is required for child supervision. Repetitive stooping and bending with occasional lifting light to medium is required. Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time is required, as well as the ability to run and be able to participate in outside activities.
Working Conditions: Ability to work in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. There may be a number of activities and situations happening at once, and the Teachers Assistant will have to supervise all children at all times; may experience smells associated with toileting and children who are ill. Work may be performed but is not limited to a classroom environment.
