The Department of Health Services (DHS), Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) is recruiting to fill a full-time Adult Basic Education Teacher position. A $3,000 sign-on bonus is available! This position will work Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM. Come and work for the best! WRC was recognized as the National Commission on Correctional Health Care’s 2022 Facility of the Year for its commitment to high quality resident care. WRC is a secure treatment facility that specializes in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. This facility is located on Lake Winnebago with beautiful walking paths by the lake for employees to use during break periods. WRC is part of the Division of Care and Treatment Services (DCTS). DCTS is committed to helping all state residents live their best lives through an interconnected web of behavioral health services.
As a Teacher at WRC, you will instruct residents in basic academic skills and assist in their preparation for the General Educational Development (GED) test. Additional duties include:
The starting pay for this position is between $31.64 and $35.76 per hour (approximately between $65,800 and $74,400 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Add-on pay up to an additional $2.97 per hour is available for relevant educational credits that are above those required for certification. A 12-month probationary period may be required. Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 13/04. $3,000 sign-on bonus applies to those with no prior state service in the last five years; who stay with the facility in the position until completing probation. Bonus will be split, $1,500 upon hire and $1,500 after completing probation.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date. DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.
