Qualifications

• A valid PA certification in TVI required; additional certification in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) preferred
• UEB training preferred
• Experience with students with vision support needs
• Current child abuse, PA Criminal and FBI Fingerprint clearance (dated within one year of hire)
• Valid Driver's License (travel throughout Montgomery County)

Responsibilities

• Conduct Functional Vision Evaluations, Learning Media Assessments, and ECC Assessment to determine eligibility for vision services.
• Develop a plan for delivering high quality, evidence based instruction and support for children in various environments.
• Knowledge of Braille, Low Vision Aids and adaptive technology skills.
• Assure that the student has all educational materials in the appropriate media.
• Work with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure accommodations and access to instruction and social interactions.

Qualifications:

• A valid PA certification in Teacher of the Visually impaired (TVI) required; additional certification in Orientation & Mobility (O&M) preferred
• Prefer Unified English Braille trained (UEB)
• Experience with students with vision support needs
• Current child abuse, PA Criminal and FBI Fingerprint clearance (dated within one year of hire)
• Valid Driver's License (this position requires travel throughout Montgomery County, PA).

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct Functional Vision Evaluations, Learning Media Assessments, and ECC Assessment to determine eligibility for vision services.
• Develop a plan for delivering high quality, evidence based instruction and support for children in a variety of environments including general and special education classrooms, specialized schools, community settings and in homes.
• Knowledge of Braille, Low Vision Aids and adaptive technology skills.
• Assure that the student has all educational materials in the appropriate media.
• Work closely with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure that they understand the implications of visual impairment and the accommodations necessary to assure students have optimal access to instruction and social interactions.

Location:

This position will service school age programs located throughout Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located in Norristown, PA and provide services to students in School Age Special Education and Non-Pub classrooms located throughout Montgomery County, PA. Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 10 months (194 days/year)

Salary:

Bachelor's: $56,694/year

Master's: $68,008/year

*Placement on salary schedule based on experience and/or education beyond the Master's Degree.
