Job summary

The Archdiocese of St. Louis seeks a part-time Substitute Teacher to cover classes when the regular teacher is absent. You will implement pre-planned lessons and support students’ academic, social, and spiritual growth in line with Catholic school values.

This is an as-needed role with call-based scheduling. You will communicate with administration, file end-of-day reports, and uphold confidentiality. Pre-employment screening is required as part of the process.

Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher serves as a temporary classroom instructor when the regular teacher is absent. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for implementing the teacher's pre-planned lessons, maintaining a positive and respectful classroom environment, and supporting the academic, social, and spiritual development of students in accordance with the mission and values of the Catholic school.

This is a part-time, as-needed position. Substitute Teachers may be called upon to provide classroom coverage based on school needs and availability.

Job Responsibilities

Follow and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular classroom teacher.

Maintain a safe, orderly, respectful, and welcoming learning environment.

Supervise students and manage classroom behavior using positive and age-appropriate strategies.

Take and accurately record student attendance.

Provide appropriate instruction and assistance to students as outlined in the teacher's plans.

Monitor student safety and follow all school policies and procedures regarding supervision, emergencies, and student conduct.

Maintain appropriate classroom routines and expectations throughout the school day.

Job Requirements

Communicate with school administration regarding significant student concerns, incidents, or other matters that arise during the day.

Complete an end-of-day report for the regular teacher and/or school administration, including information about lessons completed, student participation, behavior concerns, and any noteworthy incidents.

Maintain confidentiality regarding student, family, and school information.

Serve as a positive role model and support the Catholic identity, mission, and values of the school.

Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
