Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • MN teaching license in special education, OR a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission.*
  • If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2.*
  • It is desired for a candidate to have a special education license, but not required. ISD 279 will request an out-of-field permission if the teacher does not hold a license in special education.

Special Education Classroom Teacher

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • MN teaching license in special education, OR a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission.*
  • If not licensed, willing and eligible to apply for Tier 1 or 2.*

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Having a special education license is desirable but not required. Out-of-field permission will be requested if not licensed in special education.

Bargaining unit: Teachers

Salary: Refer to the salary grid on our Employee Contracts page

Work schedule: The candidate will work all student instructional days and workshops, totaling 31 days.

FTE: 1.0 (Temporary from August 29, 2025, through November 21, 2025). Position has return rights per Teacher Transfer Procedures, subd. 1.)
