Curriculum and Instruction:
Provides leadership to teachers to continuously improve instruction, classroom management, programs and curriculum using student data, research and professional development activities.
Works collaboratively with building and district personnel to provide quality curriculum, instruction, and programming including K-12 curriculum articulation.
Leads and organizes Professional Learning Communities and department meetings.
Utilizes state and building assessment data to improve student learning and examines data to evaluate programs within the department both horizontally and vertically.
Serves as a member of the school leadership team within the building and is a role model for teamwork within the building and department
Collaborates with the building administrative team on department and school-wide issues and/or concerns.
Communicates frequently with department members, other department leaders and administration to help with the orderly exchange of information and ideas and maintain staff morale.
Mediates conflicts that arise among staff members or that occur between staff and parents and/or students.
Guides the review of course offerings in the Program of Studies and assists in the determination of courses fees.
Provides leadership for effective and appropriate communication with parents.
Assists in the development of the department’s schedule of classes and teacher assignments.
Provides leadership in the adoption, distribution, inventory, and collection of textbooks and other materials for the department.
Provides leadership for the development of the departmental budget and ordering of supplies.
Provides mentoring for new teachers within the department.
Assists with the hiring of staff within the department.
Assists administrators with teacher evaluations and provides mentoring to teachers within the department.
Manages caseload of students with Individualized Educational Plans (IEP).
Serve as Public Agency Representative (PAR).
Oversee compliance indicators for IEPs.
Ensures materials are prepared and/or printed for substitute teachers and assists them with the plans.
Serves on district committees as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
