Job summary

New London Public Schools seeks a High School Social Studies Teacher at the New London High School Multi Magnet Campus to deliver standards-based instruction in social studies.   • Reports to: Principal
Position Overview

Provides instruction and is responsible for student learning during a particular time period in social studies.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging, standards‑based social studies instruction that promotes critical thinking, historical inquiry, civic responsibility, and global awareness.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement, academic achievement, and respectful discussion of diverse perspectives.
  • Use data‑driven instructional practices and differentiated strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Assess student progress regularly, provide meaningful feedback, and collaborate with families and colleagues to support student success.
  • Foster connections between history, geography, economics, civics, and current events through interactive learning experiences, projects, and technology integration.
  • Must hold a valid Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) educator certificate with an endorsement in one or more of the following endorsement areas: 026 or applicable.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or Haitian Creole highly desirable.
