Responsibilities

  • Design and implement academic and social-emotional interventions for students in small group or individual settings, using GPS Solutions program rubrics.
  • Participate in GPS Solutions professional development to strengthen instructional practice.
  • Foster student engagement and emotional development through evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Maintain professional habits, including punctuality and planning time.
  • Deliver services aligned to student needs and curriculum standards during out-of-school programming.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to coordinate interventions and share student progress.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and strategies to support growth.
  • Foster cooperative working relationships with school and GPS staff.
  • Maintain detailed records of intervention plans and progress data; ensure confidentiality.
  • Use progress monitoring tools to track student growth and adjust instructional strategies.
  • Engage in parent outreach as part of extended day family involvement efforts.

Education

SUMMARY

The Extended Day Staff member is responsible for supporting student learning during out-of-school time by delivering academic and social-emotional interventions aligned with state standards and schoolwide goals. This role fosters student growth by implementing individualized and small-group strategies that address academic challenges and promote emotional development in a supportive learning environment.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • A minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited university OR
  • Passing score on the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate and appropriate endorsement(s)
  • Meets highly qualified teacher requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintain appropriate professional habits, including punctuality and use of planning time
  • Deliver services aligned to student needs and curriculum standards during out-of-school programming
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to coordinate interventions and share student progress
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and strategies to support growth
  • Foster cooperative working relationships with school and GPS staff

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of student intervention plans, progress monitoring data, and family communication
  • Ensure compliance with federal and district guidelines related to documentation and confidentiality

Data & Evaluation

  • Use progress monitoring tools to track student growth and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
  • Participate in conversations with instructional teams to evaluate intervention effectiveness

Family & Community Engagement

  • Engage parents/guardians in supporting student success through regular updates and collaborative planning
  • Participate in parent outreach as part of extended day family involvement efforts

OTHER PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Administrative Functions

  • Communicate consistently with your immediate supervisor, GPS Solutions administrative team, and appropriate school-based staff regarding assigned programs and activities.
  • Foster and engage in cooperative, professional working relationships.
  • Complete all assignments in accordance with GPS Solutions and school policies and procedures.

Human Resource Functions

  • Maintain current knowledge of and follow GPS Solutions Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.

Confidentiality & Ethical Compliance

  • Maintain confidentiality of all student, family, and staff information.
  • Understand and fulfill your responsibilities as a mandated reporter in accordance with your state’s regulations.
  • Stay current with applicable codes of ethics and legal requirements (e.g., ASCA, NASW, FERPA, state and federal laws).

Payroll & Compliance Functions

  • Submit all required compliance documentation to PNP Payroll staff by the designated due dates.
  • Collaborate with other GPS Solutions Staff
  • Implement strategies to support English Language Learners in small group instructional settings
