JOB TITLE: Extended Day Coordinator

REPORTS TO:Extended Day Program Lead and Manager of Systems and Operations
SUPERVISES:Extended Day Teachers
STATUS:Temporary Part-time
SUMMARY
The Intervention Coordinator provides instructional leadership, coaching, and program oversight for intervention teachers delivering academic and social-emotional support in assigned school. This role ensures fidelity to agreed upon programming, coverage of staff, supports staff development, promotes student achievement, and acts as a communication bridge between site-level staff, school teams, school coordinators and GPS leadership. Extended day coordinators work the same time as their staff.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required:
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science or Arts in Education
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with applicable endorsement(s) as required by the Michigan Department of Education
- Meets highly qualified teacher criteria
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Minimum 3 year of successful K–5 teaching experience
- Experience with small group instruction, and data informed instruction
Preferred:
- Experience designing and delivering adult learning
- At least 2 years in a coaching, mentoring, or supervisory role
- Experience managing instructional programs, initiatives, or teams – giving live feedback
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Required Duties & Responsibilities
1. Student & Program Development
- Supports instructional delivery, teacher development, and academic growth through program design and coaching.
- Coordinator works as substitute teacher when staff are absent
- Observe sessions daily and provide actionable feedback to staff
- Ensure fidelity to GPS-approved instructional programs and research-based practices
- Support lesson planning, differentiation, and student engagement strategies
- Help design responsive coaching plans based on interventionist needs
- Mentor new teachers to uphold both instructional quality and compliance
- Builds alignment and trust across GPS teams, school partners, and instructional staff.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Coordinators, Managers, and intervention teams
- Collaborate with principals, school coordinators and GPS leadership to ensure site-level alignment
- Provide weekly updates to the Extended Day Program lead - successes, challenges, and trends
3. Program Oversight
- Ensures quality and compliance across systems
- Supervise staff, including coaching, observation, and performance management.
- Monitor fidelity of service delivery, including group sizes, and curriculum usage
- Maintain documentation of timesheets in preparation for audits, site reviews, and compliance visits
- Ensure timesheets are uploaded on time

- Model restorative, student-centered communication and feedback strategies

- Submit required documentation and reports on time (e.g., lesson plans, timesheets)
- Manage materials and tools required for intervention delivery
- Maintain compliance documentation using approved GPS platforms and templates
- Support onboarding and training of new staff regarding program expectations

- Technology: Ensure team adoption and consistent use of organizational technology systems.
- Expectation Clarity: Establish and maintain expectation clarity through role definitions, blueprints, program manuals, and school delivery plans (SDPs).
- Data: Lead intentional use of data to inform decisions, monitor progress, and improve outcomes.
- Restorative Practices: Build a culture of trust through consistent feedback, growth conversations, and aligned evaluations.
- Change Leadership: Use restorative practices to help others implement change, assist with problem solving, and lead through blueprint thinking.
- Consultation & Support: Provide program consultation and implementation support through engagement to ensure customers and employees feel supported and positioned for impact.
- Direct Support: Provide in-program leadership support by filling in for absent team members, assisting with leadership coverage as needed, and completing additional duties as assigned by a supervisor.
