JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a valid New Jersey instructional certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) in accordance with the requirements of New Jersey statutes and regulations.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher; exceptions to be determined based on New Jersey statutes and regulations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of child growth and development, instructional content, effective strategies, classroom management, learning assessment, and research related to learning.
- Show a strong commitment to providing a supportive and structured learning environment with high expectations for student success.
- Required criminal background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status.
REPORTS TO: Principal, Assistant Principal, Director, Supervisor, Instructional Chairperson, or other certificated administrative personnel
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction aligned with district programs, curriculum, and guidelines, addressing individual student needs.
- Implement the district’s educational philosophy and instructional goals.
- Establish high standards and expectations, fostering a positive learning environment.
- Display ethical and professional behavior with students, parents, staff, and community agencies.
- Create a nurturing classroom climate that encourages responsibility, motivation, and effective management.
- Develop procedures for classroom operation, manage student behavior, and ensure safety and well-being.
- Fairly evaluate and grade student work, providing timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate student records and submit reports as required.
- Submit lesson plans in the approved format.
- Assess student progress using district policies, interpret results, and utilize data for instructional planning and curriculum improvement.
- Employ appropriate instructional methods and materials to meet objectives.
- Assist in curriculum development and selection of instructional resources.
- Support IEPs for assigned students.
- Foster respect and positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in school functions, activities, and extracurricular support.
- Supervise students in non-classroom areas as assigned, ensuring safety.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with records and information.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
- Engage in professional development and collaborate with colleagues for growth.
- Operate necessary electronic and digital equipment.
- Follow laws, policies, and regulations related to school operations and conduct.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Ten, eleven, or twelve months contract.
- Salary and benefits per collective bargaining agreement.
- Conditions in accordance with New Jersey laws, policies, and regulations.
EVALUATION: Conducted by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Director, Supervisor, or Instructional Chairperson.
