Aiken County Public School District seeks a dedicated Virtual Teacher to facilitate online courses. Position Title: ACPSD Virtual Teacher
Department: Instructional Services Division
Reports To: Director of Curriculum Support, Virtual Learning Coordinator, and School Principals
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
ACPSD Virtual Teachers are expected to facilitate and instruct courses in a strictly virtual setting. Before the start of each session, virtual teachers personalize and prepare their courses for instructional use. Just as in a brick and mortar setting, teachers will communicate with students, parents, counselors and administrators to make sure student needs are being met. Teachers will facilitate live virtual instruction daily and assist students with questions about the course content. Additionally, virtual teachers will assist students and parents in technology issues that arise in the course they are teaching. ACPSD Virtual Teachers will regularly monitor student progress, updating grades within 48 hours and responding to all communications from students, parents, and administrators within 24 hours.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Current ACPSD Employee
Valid South Carolina Certificate in the specific content and course to be taught
Minimum of three years teaching experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
Minimum of one year experience teaching in a virtual setting
Virtual Teaching Endorsement
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid SC Teaching License
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises assigned students.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and instructional manuals. Ability to provide instruction to students through written explanation or recorded demonstrations. Ability to write content aligned activities and formative assessments. Ability to provide written communication with students, parents, and counselors,
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and in the display and interpretation of data. Ability to apply basic concepts of statistical analysis, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise in the course they are teaching. Ability to supervise students in a virtual classroom. Recognizes and follows the appropriate procedures in the “chain of command” as designated by board policies and/or administrative procedures.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Knowledge in the methods for developing lesson plans and materials, and classroom activities which stimulate learning.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and administration. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually. Passion for helping students learn and have the knowledge and skills to help student find new ways to look at difficult skills and concepts they do not understand.

Teachers will hold after-hour Office Hours, during which they will communicate regularly with students, grade student submissions, and perform other instructional duties indicated in the Franchise policy and teacher expectations.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Minimum 5 hours per week after contracted school hours
Pay Rate (not on Salary Schedule): Minimum $100 per student up to 30 students
The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job evaluated annually according to Board Policy.
