Denver Public Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute teacher to cover for an absent classroom teacher. The role requires delivering district-approved instruction to an appropriate grade level and maintaining continuity of learning.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a valid Colorado Teaching License, reside in Colorado, and be able to meet job demands. DPS emphasizes equity, accountability, and a positive learning environment with competitive compensation and benefits.

• Prepares lesson outlines, objectives, and materials per curriculum.
• Establishes clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Presents content using varied teaching methods and technology.
• Instructs students individually and in groups with diverse methods.
• Prepares, administers, grades tests, and reports grades.
• Prepares attendance and activity reports for administrators.
• Communicates with parents/guardians and staff to support students.

A Long-Term Substitute is responsible for teaching appropriate grade level standard-based curriculum to students, following school/district approved curriculum while the classroom teacher is absent for an extended period of time.

What You'll Do

• Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
• Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
• Observes, evaluates, reports, and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects to students.
• Presents subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and technology, adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
• Instructs students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
• Prepares, administers, assigns, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
• Prepares student, attendance and activity reports as required by administrators.
• Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems and coordinates instructional efforts.

What You’ll Need

• Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
