Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a Retired Substitute Teacher to fill in for regular teachers, following lesson plans and maintaining a productive learning environment across grades and subjects.

Salary is $29.827 per hour or $238.61 per full day for a 5 year sub authorization, with benefits including time off and PERA retirement.

Qualifications

  • Must hold one of the listed CDE licenses (DPS accepts a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days).
  • Secondary requirement is a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • Live in Colorado with a permanent home address and ability to meet physical demands.

  • Organize students for effective instruction while maintaining classroom control.
  • Motivate student learning and ensure the integrity of academic time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school Principal.

About This Job

A Retired Substitute Teacher (Retired Daily Guest Teacher) fills in for regular teachers, following lesson plans, managing the classroom, and maintaining a productive learning environment. They adapt to different grades and subjects to support students' learning.

  • All substitute teachers are requested to work a minimum of seven assignments a month.

    • $29.827 per hour/$238.61 per full day for a 5 year sub authorization, Initial or Professional teacher's license.

What You'll Do
  • Organize students for effective instruction and learning while maintaining classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students.
  • Motivate student learning and academic participation while ensuring the integrity of academic time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school Principal.
What You'll Need
  • Have ONE of the following valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Licenses (DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.)
    • 5 year Substitute Authorization
    • Initial Teaching License or Professional Teaching License
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related preferred.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
