Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Teacher Lead III provides classroom direction, implements curriculum, and fosters student growth through individualized progress plans. The role emphasizes delivering quality experiences aligned with YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. This position is limited to the duration of the preschool program school session and may change based on local trends.

Essential Functions
  1. Implements curriculum within established guidelines.
  2. Facilitates programming and curriculum following health and safety standards.
  3. Nurtures children through purposeful programming that promotes achievement and belonging, developing relationships among youth and families.
  4. Supervises children, classroom activities, and all related operations, including ADA accommodations, leading the Preschool Assistant(s).
  5. Conducts ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
  6. Builds positive relationships, conducts parent conferences, maintains effective communication with parents, engages them as volunteers, and connects them to the YMCA.
  7. Maintains the program site and equipment responsibly and efficiently.
  8. Keeps required records, including attendance and disciplinary actions.
  9. Leads classroom activities, manages behavior, and provides work instructions.
  10. Ensures students can attend classes in flexible settings and environments.
  11. Possesses a passion for early learning and youth work.
  12. Assists with student events.
  13. Participates in securing gifts for the annual campaign.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, with a current teaching license in Indiana with a kindergarten endorsement.
  2. Minimum of 1 year of experience.
  3. 12 continuing education units annually.
  4. Completion of required training within designated time: Keeping your YMCA Safe, Daxko 100, Listen First, Bullying Management, Meet Sam, Behavior Management.
  5. CPR/AED & First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
  6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.
  8. Adept with Microsoft and Google applications.
