Job description

Job Title: Teacher Itinerant – Blind/Visually Impaired (Health Educator)

Location: Lakeside, AZ (Onsite)

Duration: 9 months

Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 Hours/Week)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Teacher Itinerant – Blind/Visually Impaired to provide specialized educational services to students with visual impairments in the Lakeside, Arizona area. The selected candidate will develop individualized learning plans, deliver high-quality instruction, assess student progress, and collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to support student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality instruction to students with visual impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans.
  • Evaluate student abilities and determine appropriate educational programs.
  • Prepare, implement, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Monitor student progress and complete required evaluations and documentation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and related service providers.
  • Utilize current educational and diagnostic practices for sensory-impaired students.
  • Support positive student behavior and classroom management.
  • Travel to assigned schools and districts within the surrounding service area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education with coursework specific to sensory impairments.
  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Valid State of Arizona Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsement for Blind/Visually Impaired instruction.
  • (Teacher O&M positions require ACVREP Certification in lieu of ADE certification.)
  • Ability to pass FBI and State of Arizona background checks.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple school locations within the assigned districts.

  • Experience with lesson planning and IEP development.
