Position Goal
In accordance with the Course Code Directory definition of support facilitation, this position is to provide support to students with disabilities, their general education teachers, and their ESE teachers to promote inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education curriculum.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
- When serving in this role, the Support Facilitator shall not be identified or serve as the teacher of record except when teaching a specific ESE course or an additional period, following the assignment schedule provided by the school administration.
- May serve as a member of IEP meetings.
- Provide support for students with disabilities to enhance their achievement through cooperative consultation and co-teaching.
- Transition between general education classrooms, collaborating with teachers and assisting students with disabilities.
- Provide the level and frequency of support needed based on the needs of teachers and students.
- Arrange for alternative classroom and testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
- Develop, adapt, and assist in creating curriculum and test materials to meet the needs of teachers and students, including standards-based instruction and modified curriculum.
- Model small group instruction in general classes and pullout settings.
- Provide consultation on best practices and differentiated instructional strategies for students with disabilities, in accordance with their IEPs.
- Document services provided on the IEP using the district's electronic management system.
- Prepare quarterly progress reports for students on their caseload.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress toward IEP goals through data collection.
- Perform activities in compliance with employment and non-discrimination policies.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills related to job responsibilities.
- Review current developments and literature related to job responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Certification by the State of Florida in any area of Exceptional Student Education.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessments, and accommodations/modifications.
- Ability to work well with educators, parents, and team members in co-teaching settings.
- Effective communication skills for cooperative consultation.
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies.
- Technology skills required.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum three years of experience working with students with disabilities.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
Physical Requirements
Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
Terms of Employment
Salary and benefits are paid according to the district's compensation plan. Work year and hours are established by the School Board.
