Job summary

Easterseals Southwest Florida seeks an energetic Lead Teacher to develop and provide specialized instruction for students with disabilities in elementary settings. The role includes creating lesson plans aligned to curriculum and state standards while supervising classrooms and ensuring student safety.

The Lead Teacher trains new teachers, maintains records, communicates with families, administers assessments, and ensures compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Florida Teaching Certificate required; ESE certification preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience with an ESE population.
• Background screening and drug test required.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement lesson plans aligned to curriculum and state standards.
• Maintain effective classroom management and supervise students’ safety.
• Facilitate student testing and assessments.
• Assess student needs and develop individualized instructional plans.
• Maintain student records and submit quarterly report cards.
• Keep incident and case management documentation up to date.
• Communicate with families on an ongoing basis.
• Adhere to Easterseals policies and high ethical standards.
• Demonstrate good judgment and effective communication while representing the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Easterseals Southwest Florida seeks an energetic person who enjoys working with elementary school students. This position will develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. The Lead Teacher provides training to new teachers on the curriculum and serves as a resource to ensure that classrooms under his/her purview run smoothly.

• Create and implement lesson plans aligned to curriculum and state standards.
• Serve as a resource to maintain effective classroom management in classrooms and provide continual supervision to ensure students’ safety.
• Facilitate student testing and assessments.
• Assess student needs and develop individualized instructional plans.
• Maintain student records and submit quarterly report cards.
• Maintain required documentation such as incident reports and internal case management documentation.
• Effectively communicate with families on an ongoing basis.
• Comply with Easterseals policies and procedures, utilizing the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and behavior.
• Demonstrate good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy, and effective communication while working at Easterseals and/or when representing the organization.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
• Required Certifications: Florida Teaching Certificate. Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Certification Preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with an exceptional student education population.
• Required Credentials: All employees must pass a background screening and drug test for employment.
