  • Hours: Full Time, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Salary Description: $19.87-$25.16, based on level of education and relative work experience

A Day in the Life as an Early Head Start Teacher:

As the Teacher, you’ll play an essential role in providing all aspects of a quality child development program with emphasis on the cognitive, social and emotional development of preschool-aged children. Your day will involve:

  • Assists the Lead Teacher in planning and providing quality educational experiences for preschool-aged children by helping to plan and prepare daily and weekly program experiences, considering the needs of children.
  • Engages in adult-child interactions that are responsive, supportive, and respectful of children’s needs, development, and play interests.
  • Participates in the daily activities planned for the children.

Your role will directly contribute to positive employee experience and efficient operations across the organization.

Qualifications to Be an Early Head Start Teacher:

To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent credential, Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, or equivalent; must have Child Growth and Development coursework or equivalent coursework according to NH State Childcare Licensing requirements.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in an early childhood classroom.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with young children and their families and ability to relate comfortably to income-eligible families.
  • Characteristics: Attention to detail, confidentiality, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive workplace and early childhood classroom experience.
  • Technical: successful completion of criminal record check, CPR/First Aid certification.

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required for occasional travel between program locations.
