Floater Teacher - Head Start/Early Head Start

Floater Teacher - Head Start/Early Head Start

Floyd County Head Start is looking to add 2 floater teachers to our Head Start Preschool and Early Head Start program! Our floaters provide staff support in the classrooms by covering daily lunch breaks or substituting for full-time staff absences.

Job duties and responsibilities
  • Assist teaching staff in assigned placements, including engaging children in planned activities under the direction of classroom staff
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment to support each child's development and learning
  • Engage in two-way communication appropriate to each child's level
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies, including active supervision
  • Participate in all emergency drills
  • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to confidentiality policies in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and agency policies
  • Develop positive relationships with children, staff, and parents
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Infant/Toddler or Preschool CDA preferred
  • Experience working with young children in school or daycare/group settings
  • Reliable and regular attendance to ensure consistency for children and staff
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a team
  • Proficiency in computer use for communication, data storage, retrieval, and internet access
Schedule
  • Position begins in July 2025
  • 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 8AM-3PM
  • Works and is paid for 40 weeks per year (excluding fall, winter, spring, and summer breaks)
Pay
  • $14.90/hour for the first 65 working days, increasing to $15.35/hour upon completion
