Job summary

Radford City Public Schools District in Radford, VA seeks a Vocational Instructor to deliver certified curriculum and vocational training to high school students. The role requires industry experience in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical trades, and DPOR credentials, with OSHA preferred.

Qualifications

• OSHA Certification preferred.
• Industry experience: 4000 hrs or 2 full yrs within the last five yrs in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electricity.
• DPOR Journeyman or Master Card for Electricity and Plumbing required.

Responsibilities

• Provides vocational instruction to students.
• Assesses students' abilities and needs required to complete course of instruction.
• Delivers approved curriculum and provides appropriate instruction.
• Maintains discipline and safety in classroom, shop, and other applicable work areas.
• Supervises the use of all tools and equipment to ensure proper security, use, and storage.
• Maintains records of student attendance and progress.
• Maintains teacher competency in the area of vocational trade.
• Performs other educational and related duties as required.
• Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
• Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
• Serve on committees as assigned.
• Remain current on instructional practices in education.
