GRADE : State Salary Scale for Teachers

REPORTS TO : Principal

SUPERVISES : Teacher Assistant(s), if applicable

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 10 Months

QUALIFICATIONS :

• North Carolina Professional Educator's License in the area of Construction (Area 74026).

  • Two years of related work experience required for those with a Bachelor's degree.

POSITION SUMMARY : The educator will oversee carpentry, framing, electrical, plumbing, and safety coursework while managing the advanced trade lab environment. This position includes itinerant duties, requiring the educator to travel to or teach designated sessions for students at Compass Academy as scheduled by district administration.

• CTE-Specific Responsibilities
  • Instructional Delivery : Deliver NC CTE Construction Core and Carpentry curricula across primary classes at the Innovation Campus and assigned course blocks at Compass Academy.
  • Lab Management & Safety : Enforce strict OSHA guidelines and maintain heavy machinery, hand tools, and materials across all instruction spaces.
  • Multi-Site Coordination : Adapt lesson plans and hands-on projects to fit the scheduling and facility structures of both the Innovation Campus and Compass Academy.
  • Student Leadership : Lead and advise the district’s SkillsUSA chapter, coaching students for regional and state technical competitions.
  • Workforce Partnerships : Collaborate with local Martin County contractors, trade unions, and advisory boards to connect classroom learning with local hiring pipelines and apprenticeships.
• Instructional Process
  • Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the district's philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in theNorth Carolina Standard Course of Study .
  • Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategiesand maximize time on task.
  • Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Encourages student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits.
  • Provides progress and other reports as required.
  • Prepares a Substitute Teacher Folder containing appropriate information as required by the Principal.
