Job summary

The Teacher – CAD will serve as a classroom leader who works to provide exceptional instruction that affords all students the opportunity to excel academically and meet drafting and design standards. The CAD Teacher will bring content-specific expertise to instructional planning and delivery in order to equip students with the skills necessary for success in the drafting and design pathway of career and technical education. This teacher will deliver specified instruction in computer-aided design and drafting. Through this role, the CAD Teacher will work relentlessly to increase student achievement levels by consistently setting rigorous academic and behavioral goals for students, monitoring progress towards these goals, and adjusting course when necessary. The Teacher will work to actively build positive and beneficial relationships with parents, guardians and community members in order to positively impact their students' academic performance.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture or Civil Engineering strongly preferred

New Jersey Standard or Provisional Teaching Certificate in Skilled Trades: Drafting or Drafting and Design Technology Endorsement Code 2544

Prior experience in teaching CAD/CADD courses (strongly preferred)

Prior experience teaching low-income students in an urban setting (strongly preferred)

Possess or willing to obtain Cooperative Education Coordinator-Hazardous Occupations endorsement

Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major roles and responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a classroom leader by providing high quality, differentiated instruction to students
  • Setting rigorous academic and behavioral goals for students and investing students in these goals
  • Implementing and effectively modifying instruction aligned to the district's educational goals by focusing on high standards and achievement for all students
  • Planning and delivering content that covers, but is not limited to, computer-aided design and computer-assisted drafting
  • Designing and implementing high-quality, thorough lesson, unit, and long-term plans that equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to master daily objectives and content standards
  • Co-planning with Special Education Teachers when necessary to ensure that the academic and behavioral needs of each student are met
  • Continuously tracking student achievement data and using the data to inform instructional planning and delivery
  • Preparing, leveraging and delivering constructive feedback to students aimed at improving their academic performance
  • Consistently implementing and enforcing rules and consequences in the classroom setting and school-wide
  • Providing continuous evaluation of student progress that is consistent with district established goals and policies, and clearly communicating this progress to all necessary stakeholders
  • Maintaining, monitoring, and reporting students' grade and attendance records
  • Taking personal responsibility for students' mastery of academic standards
  • Effectively and innovatively incorporating technological resources into classroom lessons
  • Committing to continual professional growth that leads students to achieve the greatest learning gains
  • Communicating effectively with students, families and colleagues in order to invest all stakeholders in the learning process
  • Attending and actively participating in all professional development, team planning and data analysis meetings
  • Meet all CTE program requirements such as hosting 2 advisory meetings per year, inputting student CTE data into Genesis, developing community partnerships for internships/apprenticeships.

The Teacher – CAD may also take on other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and/or their designee.

Starting Minimum Salary: $61,857.00

Starting Maximum Salary: $96,457.00

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT

Under New Jersey's "New Jersey First Act" (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7), all employees of New Jersey public school districts must maintain bona fide New Jersey residency as a condition of employment. Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire. Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011areexemptfromthis requirement and may continue to reside outside the state. In limited circumstances, applicants may request a residency waiver through the state's Employee Residency Review Committee if they can demonstrate critical need or hardship; approval is not guaranteed.
