DISTRICT OVERVIEW

DUAL POSITION OVERVIEW

White Pine Middle School is searching for a Middle school teacher with a passion for students and a belief in teaching the whole child. This is a dual position overview with split time: ½ time Middle School Teacher reporting to building principal and ½ time White Pine Middle School Athletics Director reporting to District Athletics Director.

  • Schedule to be determined based upon certification field and the needs of the position
  • Position will teach 3 periods per day.
  • Position will have 1 prep period.
  • Lunch/Dinner- 35-minute time will be somewhat flexible (but can be agreed upon as the needs of the position timing are established).
  • Expectation is that lunch will be eaten prior to scheduled work day/time and the “lunch/dinner” time will be later in the day.
  • Teacher report times will be 11:45 am- 7:30 pm.
  • The second half of the workday will be established for AD duties.
  • Position will also continue to receive the “schedule B” Middle School Ad stipend to compensate for the activities that will be after 6:30 pm and occasionally on weekdays.
Middle School Athletic Director Position Overview

The Middle School Athletic Director is responsible for the management and coordination of the Middle School Athletic programs, ensuring compliance with Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) regulations and district policies. This position involves overseeing the daily operations of the athletic department, scheduling contests, hiring officials, managing facility use, and supporting coaches and student‑athletes. The Middle School Athletic Director works under the guidance of the District Athletic Director and collaborates with administration, coaches, parents, and the broader school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaison Role: Serve as the primary contact for Middle school athletic programs, working closely with coaches, parents, student‑athletes, and administration to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule all Middle school athletic contests, practices, and events within the framework of MHSAA regulations and district policies in coordination with district and coordinate the use of school facilities for athletic events.
  • Officials and Event Management: Hire and confirm contracts with officials for all athletic contests. Ensure proper event preparation, including venue setup, and maintain communication with game officials.
  • Budget and Financial Management: Assist in managing the middle school athletic budget by ensuring efficient use of resources and accurate financial records.
  • Transportation Logistics: Ensure transportation for middle school athletic teams, working closely with coaches to meet the needs of the teams.
  • Eligibility & Compliance: Ensure the preparation of student‑athlete eligibility lists and communicate regularly with coaches about potential eligibility concerns.
  • Facility Maintenance & Safety: Work with the District Athletic Director and building administration to inspect athletic facilities, ensuring they are safe and meet all district and MHSAA standards.
  • Equipment & Uniforms: Supervise the inventory, storage, and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms, ensuring proper care and organization.
  • Coach Support & Development: Provide leadership and support to middle school coaches. Assist the District Athletic Director in evaluating head coaches and, as needed, participate in the evaluation of assistant coaches.
  • Athletic Training Rules: Enforce athletic training rules, policies, and procedures, working closely with the District Athletic Director to address any issues.
  • Reports & Records: Maintain accurate records of contests, student participation, and team outcomes. Submit required reports to the District Athletic Director and building principal.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the District Athletic Director, building principal, or administration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
  • Valid teaching certificate (Secondary level, any subject).
  • Strong knowledge of MHSAA regulations and high school athletics.
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and scheduling athletic events.
  • Ability to work effectively with coaches, parents, student‑athletes, and administrators.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primarily an indoor and outdoor work environment.

HOURS/PAY
  • 8 hours per day, 5 days per week (7:20a‑3:20p)
  • Approximately 185 workdays (August through May)
  • Salary and benefits are pursuant to collective bargaining agreement with Saginaw Township Education Association (STEA)
  • Current compensation starting at $45,138 Bachelor's Degree (no previous teaching experience); $52,825 Master Degree, (no previous teaching experience)
