Job summary

Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional School District in Upton, Massachusetts is seeking a Teacher Assistant - Title I. You will support teachers and students in an academic classroom or vocational program, under the supervision of the Academic Curriculum Coordinator.

Responsibilities include planning activities, assisting with small groups or individuals, maintaining records, monitoring discipline, and helping ensure a safe, clean learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with students with disabilities and appropriate accommodations.
• Knowledge of curriculum modification and learning styles.
• ABA certification preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in in-person and remote education models.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.

Title: Teacher Assistant - Title I

Description: The Teacher Assistant - Title 1 will assist the teacher and students in an academic classroom or in a vocational program. This role reports to the Academic Curriculum Coordinator.

• 1.Participates in daily and classroom activity planning.
• 2.Conducts learning exercises with small groups or individual students.
• 3.Guides students in working with other students.
• 4.Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual students.
• 5.Helps maintain individual records for each student.
• 6.Helps maintain discipline under supervision of teacher.
• 7.Assists teacher in maintaining a safe and clean work/study environment.
• 8.Assists with the supervision of students during regular classroom/shop periods.
• 9.Collects data for Individualized Education Plans (IEP) reviews/reevaluations.
• 10.Other job-related duties as assigned.

• 1.Some college credit and/or experience preferred.
• 2.Knowledge of students with disabilities, curriculum modification, learning styles, and appropriate accommodations is required.
• 3.Demonstrated collaborative, team-oriented approach and the ability to build positive professional relationships with students and colleagues.
• 4.Possess exemplary personal and professional history, supported by references.
• 5.Experience with special needs students, strong reading skills or reading background. ABA certification preferred.
• 6.Must be able to work effectively with in-person and remote educational models.
• 7.Must be able to inspire excellence, foster consensus and support the district's mission with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a positive approach.

Compensation

• 1.The anticipated hiring salary range is $24.00 - $26.00 dollars per hour depending on qualifications.
• 2.This is benefit-eligible position. Benefits include: paid time off, voluntary benefits such as medical, dental, life, disability, flexible spending accounts, and an identity protection plan. Professional development and pension provisions are also provided.
