Job summary

UCP of Central Florida is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support a classroom of 12-22 elementary students in a dynamic, non-profit setting. You will work closely with the Teacher/Para to implement lessons and monitor student progress.

The role emphasizes creating an inclusive environment, maintaining classroom routines, and coordinating with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure each child’s needs are met.

Qualifications

• Experience with children required or preferred.
• Users must demonstrate ability to support elementary students.
• First Aid/CRP training encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction according to the teacher's directions.
• Assist in planning and setting up instructional materials.
• Assist in administering assessments and progress monitoring.
• Document academic progress with observations and data collection.
• Maintain behavior management and classroom routines.
• Perform paraprofessional duties in teacher absences.
• Support staff-parent communication and collaboration.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Teacher Assistant assists the Teacher/Para in supporting a classroom of 12-22 elementary (K-5 th grade) students.

Job Responsibilities

• Implements lessons plan including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.
• Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.
• Assist in administering assessments/progress monitoring.
• Works with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
• Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.
• Perform Paraprofessional duties in his/her absence.
• Keep up on best and promising practices for education (i.e., attending professional development, participating in book studies, etc.)
• Provide caretaking/housekeeping duties as needed (i.e., changing of students, keeping classroom clean)
• Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
• Attend required trainings, meetings and events.
• Ensure administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Training:

• G.E.D. or High School Diploma
• DCF 45 hour within 90 days of hire if doing after care/summer or camp.
• CRP/First Aid Training

Minimum Experience:

• Prefer at least 1 year experience working with children in an elementary classroom setting.
• Prefer experience working with students with disabilities
