UCP Bailes Community Academy in Orlando, FL is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support a K-5 classroom. You will assist in implementing lessons, preparing instructional materials, and monitoring student progress under the guidance of the teacher.

The role requires a GED or high school diploma, CPR/First Aid, and 45-hour DCF training within 90 days. Prior experience with children and students with disabilities is preferred.

Qualifications

• G.E.D. or High School Diploma.
• DCF 45 hour within 90 days of hire if doing after care/summer or camp.
• CRP/First Aid Training.

Responsibilities

• Implements lesson plans including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.
• Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.
• Assist in administering assessments/progress monitoring.
• Documents academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
• Utilizes and ensures consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management.
• Performs paraprofessional duties in teacher’s absence.
• Keeps up on best and promising practices for education (professional development, book studies).
• Provides caretaking/housekeeping duties as needed.
• Maintains positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
• Attends required trainings, meetings and events.
• Ensures administration is informed of parent and student concerns and complaints.
• Ensures compliance with procedures set by UCP and state/federal agencies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
