Job summary

UCP of Central Florida is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support a classroom of 12-22 elementary students (K-5). You will implement lessons, prepare instructional materials, assist with assessments, and help document progress with observations and data collection.

The role involves applying classroom management strategies, collaborating with staff and parents, and attending trainings. Prior experience and relevant certifications are preferred to enable a smooth, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• G.E.D. or High School Diploma is required.
• CRP/First Aid Training is required.
• DCF 45 hour within 90 days of hire if doing after care/summer or camp.
• Prefer at least 1 year experience working with children in an elementary classroom setting.
• Prefer experience working with students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Implements lessons plan including instructional groups per teacher’s direction.
• Assists in planning and developing/setting up instructional materials for classroom.
• Assist in administering assessments/progress monitoring.
• Works with the teacher in documenting academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
• Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques and data collection.
• Perform Paraprofessional duties in his/her absence.
• Keep up on best and promising practices for education.
• Provide caretaking/housekeeping duties as needed.
• Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
• Attend required trainings, meetings and events.
• Ensure administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.
