Job summary

The Summit Center in Amherst, NY is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support instruction, assist with data collection and classroom activities, and help implement IEP mandates.

You will work under supervision, collaborate with teachers, handle home-school communication, and assist with paperwork while upholding the Summit Center values of adaptability, integrity, and respect.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least one year of classroom/educational experience.
• At least one year of experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction and fulfill IEP mandates.
• Implement behavior plans and monitor student progress.
• Support home-school communication and record keeping.
• Help with routine classroom functions and paperwork.
• Travel to satellite locations as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies.

Your Impact as a Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant supports the delivery of instruction and ensures fulfillment of IEP mandates by assisting with lesson plans, data collection, and classroom activities. They help with implementing established behavior plans, home-school communication, and have the ability to assume teacher responsibilities as needed.

• Assist in instruction and fulfillment of IEP mandates

• Assist teacher to implement and monitor individual lesson plans, data collection and charting systems
• Assist in conducting classroom activities that enhance opportunity to develop skills in areas of need

• Assist with all required paperwork to be completed
• Ability to travel to satellite locations upon request

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience working in a classroom/educational setting
• One year of experience working with children

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate or New York State Teaching Certificate (if you do not currently posses the certificate, you must obtain it within six months of hire)
