Job summary

The Summit Center is hiring a Teacher Assistant to support instructional delivery and ensure IEP mandates are met. You will assist with lesson plans, data collection, and classroom activities, helping implement behavior plans and home-school communication.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma, 1 year in a classroom setting, and NYS Teacher Assistant or Teaching Certificate within six months of hire. The center offers a supportive environment and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience in a classroom/educational setting.
• New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate or NYS Teaching Certificate required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction and fulfillment of IEP mandates.
• Assist teacher to implement and monitor individual lesson plans, data collection and charting systems.
• Assist with routine classroom functions and home-school communication.
• Travel to satellite locations upon request.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies and dress code.

Pay: $22.66/hour

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, 37.5 hrs./week

Your Impact as a Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant supports the delivery of instruction and ensures fulfillment of IEP mandates by assisting with lesson plans, data collection, and classroom activities. They help with implementing established behavior plans, home-school communication, and have the ability to assume teacher responsibilities as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience working in a classroom/educational setting
• One year of experience working with children

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate or New York State Teaching Certificate (if you do not currently posses the certificate, you must obtain it within six months of hire)
