Job Description
  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials (e.g., art projects, computer, language skills, etc.) to support and reinforce classroom goals and objectives.
  • Assist with classroom assignments to support teachers in the instructional process.
  • Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments (e.g., reading stories, providing writing assistance, reinforcing language skills, numbers, alphabet, computer learning programs, etc.) to practice and/or reinforce learning concepts and help students reach academic goals and developmental milestones.
  • Communicate with teachers to assist in implementing classroom objectives.
  • Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and records (e.g., clean/bleach tables, sign‑in/sign‑out logs, etc.) to ensure availability of items, provide written reference, provide a safe learning environment, and/or meet mandated requirements.
  • Monitor individual and/or groups of students in various settings (e.g., classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Perform general tasks (e.g., laminating, making copies, bulletin boards, filing, etc.) to help the teacher prepare instructional materials.
  • Report observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g., accidents, fights, appropriate and/or inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) to communicate information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
  • Attend meetings and in‑service presentations to acquire and/or convey information related to job functions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Type II state regulations, school policies and procedures, emergency drills, and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Attend professional development meetings and workshops to meet state guidelines.
  • Assist in diaper changing, bottle feeding, snack and lunch time, play time, stroller rides, etc.
  • Perform tasks as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Be an active advocate of Kehoe‑France Northshore’s vision, mission, and promises.
Physical Requirements

Perform duties that require lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, squatting, pushing, and/or pulling. The job requires sitting, walking, and standing.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma.

Conditional on completion of a federal criminal background check covering the countries you have lived and worked in during the last 10 years; convictions will be reviewed against safeguarding principles. All employees must complete drug testing upon hire; random drug tests may be required.
