Job Summary
Assists Lead Teacher and Teachers in planning and implementing high-quality learning experiences that support the holistic development of each child. Create and maintain a safe, healthy, and engaging classroom environment while fostering strong partnerships with families. Ensures compliance with Colorado Department of Human Services licensing regulations and NAEYC Accreditation Standards. Incorporating a balance of group and individualized learning experiences, promoting school readiness skills and supporting children’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development.
Essential Duties
- Assists Lead Teacher and Teacher with duties as delegated and accepts supervision
- Is a part of the planning and implementation of appropriate children’s learning activities to enhance skill development in all domains of learning
- Ensures that both the classroom and outdoor environment are clean, safe, and appropriate, in compliance with CDHS Licensing, Health and Safety requirements, USDA food and sanitization standards, the NAEYC Cleaning and Sanitation Table, and Early Connections policies and procedures
- Fosters an inclusive environment by demonstrating respect, acceptance, and support for all children and their families, including those with special needs, behavioral challenges, and diverse identities, such as culture, race, ethnicity, family structures, and individual choices
- Comply with all Early Connections policies and procedures, Colorado Department of Human Services licensing requirements, and NAEYC standards
- Engages in positive interactions with children, teachers, families, and staff
- Presents self as a professional in appearance, language, attitude, values, and support of Early Connections mission
SECONDARY DUTIES
- Support the development of positive relationships between children and their families, while maintaining professional boundaries
- Communicate with appropriate staff across all departments and the community to meet the needs of the classroom, children, families, and host schools
- Share all information with co-workers and supervisors as appropriate and communicate openly and honestly
- Use discretion and maintain confidentiality with matters of children, families, staff, and program as appropriate
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions, maintaining a positive demeanor and presenting a professional appearance
Qualifications
Meets Colorado Minimum Rules and Regulations for Teacher Assistants.
Prior to employment, candidates must pass federal and state criminal and Colorado Department of Early Childhood background checks, pre-employment drug screen, physical, and verification of employment, education and/or credentials and, by position, valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position Requires Physical Mobility, With Or Without Reasonable Accommodation If Requested, To Perform Essential Functions Of The Job, Including But Not Limited To Sitting, Standing, Walking, Lifting, Carrying, Squatting. Should Be Able To
- Exert 20 to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently to move objects and occasionally children
- Make fast, simple, repeated movements
- Endure physically and emotionally working with children ages 6 weeks through school-age for long periods of time
- See objects or movement of objects to one’s side when the eyes are focused forward
- See details at a distance and close range
- Detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
- Keep or regain your body balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.
TRAVEL AND REMOTE WORK
All positions at Early Connections Learning Centers are on site. This position does not qualify for any remote working capability.
