Job summary

GREAT LAKES COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP seeks a Teacher Assistant to support preschool learning, assist with lesson plans, and ensure compliance with Head Start standards at the Bowling Green site. This seasonal full-time role runs Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, totaling 34 hours weekly from August to June.

The position offers compensation of $18.00–$19.61 per hour depending on education and experience, plus health coverage, retirement, PTO, holidays, and employee assistance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Hold a CDA credential (or equivalent state-awarded certificate).
• Be enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within two years of hire.
• Be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelor's degree.
• Experience in early childhood development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developmentally appropriate activities supporting preschool development.
• Help provide an age-appropriate learning environment accommodating individual differences.
• Promote a positive learning environment and supportive teacher–child interactions.
• Substitute for teaching staff and assist with classroom activities.
• Organize, sanitize and store classroom equipment and supplies.
• Recruit and direct volunteers.
• Assist in two educational home visits per child per year.
• Maintain records and submit as requested.
• Other duties as directed by supervisor.

Position Overview:Provide a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool children. Support daily classroom activities, assist with implementing lesson plans, and ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable regulations.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

• Early childhood development or related childcare experience preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with implementing developmentally appropriate activities and strategies which support the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of preschool children.
• Assist with providing an age-appropriate learning environment that allows for individual differences.
• Assist with promoting and encouraging a positive learning environment and nurturing teacher child interactions.
• Substitute for teaching staff; assist with classroom activities.
• Organize, sanitize and store classroom equipment and supplies.
• Recruit and direct volunteers.
• Assist in conducting 2 educational home visits per child per year.
• Maintain accurate records and submit records as requested.
• Other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor.

Additional Requirements:

• Initial and periodic physical exams required.
• Must submit to initial and/or periodic state and/or federal criminal checks.
• Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing. +
