Job summary

Birch Family Services in New York is seeking a part-time floater to oversee a classroom environment, support health and safety, assist with curriculum, and build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.

The role covers lunch coverage, basic office duties, and maintaining routines; you will work Monday to Friday 9:30 am–2:30 pm, 25 hours per week, with opportunities for additional duties and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• 18 years and older.
• HS Diploma and willingness to obtain New York State Teaching Assistant Certification.
• A desire to work with children through positive interaction.
• Prior experience preferred but not necessary.
• Dependable, flexible, and team player required.

Responsibilities

• Room coverage at lunch, for additional prep/writing time opportunities and classroom coverage to support students/classrooms having difficulty napping/teachers that are in training and as necessary.
• Office duties, answering phones, reception coverage.
• Maintain classroom management, sanitation and safety and support student transitions
• Provide a normal routine by maintaining daily schedule adherence
• Must keep classroom staff, and school administration informed concerning children, and issues.
• Maintaining the Agency’s policies and procedures
• Attend on-going training
• Additional duties as required

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position; days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. 25 hours per a week.

Physical Demands:
