Job summary

Birch Family Services in Bronx, NY is seeking a part-time floater for a classroom-support role in Riverdale Early Childhood Center.   • Maintain classroom management, sanitation, and safety, and support student transitions.
  • Provide a normal routine by maintaining daily schedule adherence.
  • Keep classroom staff and school administration informed concerning children and issues.
  • Maintain the Agency’s policies and procedures.
  • Attend ongoing training.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Job Details: Location: Riverdale Early Childhood Center - Bronx, NY 10463. Position Type: Full Time. Salary Range: $18.03 - $19.36 Hourly. Job Shift: Day.

Summary

The floater oversees the environment in an assigned classroom, assuring child health and safety, supporting appropriate curriculum, and building positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Room coverage at lunch and for additional prep/writing time opportunities, as well as classroom coverage to support students/classes having difficulty napping, teachers that are in training, and as necessary.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position; days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 25 hours per week.

  • HS Diploma and willingness to obtain New York State Teaching Assistant Certification.
  • A desire to work with children through positive interaction.
  • Prior experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Dependable, flexible, and team player required.
Physical Demands

Demonstrate full range of motion. Be able to lift up to 40 lbs. Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.
