Binghamton City School District is seeking a dedicated instructional assistant to support students in the classroom under the supervision of a teacher. Responsibilities include assisting with materials, guiding individual learners, and helping with exams and records.
Strong communication with students and the ability to maintain discipline at times are important. A high school diploma or GED is required; experience with school-aged children is preferred.
This position involves the performance of duties in assisting and supporting the instructional and educational process for children. The work differs from School Monitor in that the incumbents are selected primarily to provide instruction to children, whereas the School Monitors are more concerned with disciplinary and behavior situations. The work is performed under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher. Supervision is normally exercised over students, usually on a one‑on‑one basis. Does related work as required. May elect to monitor during the lunch period. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position, including but not limited to the following:

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma required.
1 year of experience working with school‑aged children.
