Job summary

Binghamton City School District is seeking a dedicated instructional assistant to support students in the classroom under the supervision of a teacher. Responsibilities include assisting with materials, guiding individual learners, and helping with exams and records.

Strong communication with students and the ability to maintain discipline at times are important. A high school diploma or GED is required; experience with school-aged children is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma required.
• Preferred one year of experience working with school-aged children.
• Experience assisting teachers with classroom activities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Escort students and support instructional activities as directed by the teacher.
• Assist in setting up reading and math laboratory equipment and materials.
• Provide one-on-one help to students with learning problems under supervision.
• Proctor examinations and monitor student behavior when needed.
• Prepare teaching aids and help maintain student records and files.
• Support teachers with grading and recording test results.
• May monitor students during lunch periods when required.
