Job Title: Teacher

Location: South Side-936 East 54th Street (Charles Kozminski Com Acad)

Salary Range: $64,469.94 to $82,839.39

Responsibilities
  • Instructional planning, including providing written lesson plans and preparing according to program objectives.
  • Establish positive learning expectations for all pupils.
  • Evaluate pupils’ progress and maintain current, accurate records of achievements.
  • Implement instructional methods applying contemporary learning theory and teaching methodology.
  • Participate in development and implementation of new teaching techniques.
  • Provide bulletin board and interest areas reflecting current work.
  • Apply knowledge of curriculum content related to subject areas.
  • Participate in programs to improve student attendance and anti-vandalism programs.
  • Establish and maintain reasonable rules of conduct within classroom and school grounds.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts.
  • Encourage student growth in self-discipline and positive self-concept.
  • Ensure fairness and respect in teacher-pupil relationships.
  • Initiate parent conferences and communicate pupil progress, attendance, and conduct.
  • Participate in in-service and professional staff meetings.
  • Coordinate and attend class field trips.
  • Work in extra-curricular and after-school activities.
  • Utilize community resources appropriately.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and coursework for the appropriate teaching certificate(s) issued by Illinois State Board of Education.
  • Possession of a valid teaching license issued by Illinois State Board of Education: PEL or ELS, properly endorsed for this position.
  • Knowledge of subject matter consistent with state certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of contemporary principles and practices of teaching.
  • Knowledge of classroom and behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to modify instruction to meet student needs.
  • Ability to cooperate with faculty and administration in program development.
  • Ability to work effectively with pupils, parents, guardians, staff, and community representatives.
  • Ability to understand physical, intellectual, social, and emotional patterns of pupils.
  • Skill in applying contemporary teaching principles and practices; good oral and written communication; good interpersonal skills; exercise of sound professional judgment.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, 10 pounds frequently, or negligible force constantly; ability to stoop, reach, handle objects, talk, hear, use near visual acuity, occasional use of better visual acuity.
