We manage the state park system and programs to inventory, interpret and protect Tennessee's rich natural, historical and archaeological heritage.

How You Make a Difference In This Role

The Division of Air Pollution Control implements the Tennessee Air Quality Act and delegated programs of the federal Clean Air Act, working to maintain the purity of Tennessee's air resources consistent with the protection of human health, general welfare and physical property of the people, maximum employment, and the full industrial development of the state. The Division serves 91 counties within Tennessee and oversees local air programs in Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, and Shelby counties. The Division operates an ambient monitoring network, provides air quality forecasting, establishes emission standards and procedural requirements for industries through the issuance of construction and operating permits, and ensures compliance by inspecting facilities and verifying compliance with issued permits or pursuing enforcement to ensure the facility returns to compliance in a timely manner.

Job Overview

The Division of Air Pollution Control (APC) is seeking a candidate to serve as a project manager responsible for coordinating and reporting grant activities. This Executive Service position ensures Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliance in support of TDEC's mission while maintaining accurate financial and performance documentation and leading partnerships throughout the grant lifecycle

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit grant proposals.
  • Review fiscal reports to ensure paid expenditures align with the correct program, project codes, and funding source; provide daily approvals to Finance & Accounting during the grant life cycle.
  • Develop and maintain system reports to serve as tools for measuring compliance.
  • Use insights to guide and implement process improvements.
  • Lead monthly grant work group meetings to assess milestone progress and ensure accurate performance and financial reporting from all divisions.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with grant guidelines and applicable state and federal rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications

Successful candidates will have expertise in Microsoft Suite programs, complex problem-solving and decision-making skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multiple state agencies, as well as with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, management experience, and one or more years of full-time
