Responsibilities

  • Provide training and consultation on usage of systems and tools for data management.
  • Assist in upgrading systems databases with IT partners.
  • Identify GIS opportunities to display Division data with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in a scientific or quantitative discipline (e.g., computer science, statistics, engineering, etc.) and 3 years of experience performing professional data management or data analytics work.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate course work in a quantitative discipline may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to two years.

OR

5 years of experience as a data professional including financial, scientific, environmental, or other business-related areas.

OR

3 years of increasingly responsible professional data management and data analytics experience with the State of Tennessee and demonstration of the skills required to excel in this role.

Overview

Develop and implement a quality management system that ensures data accuracy and compliance with the Division's Data Governance Policy within their Oracle database.

Responsibilities
  • Support data management and cataloging efforts. Define, monitor, and manage data quality.
  • Develop and maintain data policies, standards, and controls which support the division. Ensure adoption of and compliance with established data standards.
  • Support Division's data governance and management efforts by providing training and consultation to staff on usage of systems and tools used to manage data.
  • Participate in the creation and upgrading of systems databases by working with internal and external Information Technology partners.
  • Assist in identifying ways to utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to display Division data and collaborate with business teams and TDEC GIS professionals to develop and maintain enterprise resources.
