Job summary

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality seeks a Program Supervisor in the Houston region to lead the Coastal and East Texas Division’s administrative and compliance efforts. You will guide budget planning, asset and records management, and staff development, ensuring timely execution of work and policy compliance.

Role emphasizes coordinating schedules, maintaining documentation, and responding to information requests while supporting regional operations and reporting to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee regional administrative support team; track work and report status to management.
• Coordinate personnel data: schedules, reviews, and leave requests; perform performance management.
• Oversee regional records, fleet and building management; maintain appropriate records and purge as needed.
• Oversee collection of PIR information; monitor retention schedules and coordinate destruction.
• Ensure compliance with policies; develop administrative policies, procedures and guidance.
• Assist in oversight of the regional budget and purchasing; track assets and inventory.

This position is a member of our Coastal and East Texas Division.

Here's What You'll Be Doing

• Oversee the work of the regional administrative support team staff. Develop tools to track work assignments, ensure that assignments are completed within established time frames, and provide reports to management on the status of work assignments.
• Assist the coordination of personnel related data management. Plan and approve employee work schedules, reviews and leave requests, and performs performance management requirements.
• Oversee and coordinate regional records, fleet and building management operations. Ensure that appropriate records are maintained and purged.
• Oversee the collection of information in response to Public Information Requests (PIRs). Monitor retention schedules and coordinate the destruction of files that have reached the end of their retention schedule.
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and take corrective action. Develop administrative policies, procedures, and guidance.
• Assist in the oversight of the regional budget and purchasing. Track and monitor the region's inventory (capital and non-capital assets) on a routine basis.

Key Qualifications

• Robust experience with actively implementing budget development and budget tracking.
• Experience with office management activities such as asset management, building management, and creation of office procedures
• Experience in personnel management, staff training and development

Required Education & Experience

Experience in the administration of a program relevant to assignment.

OR

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assignment.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Houston Region Office.
