Job summary

Bellefaire JCB is seeking a Therapeutic Behavioral Service (TBS) Specialist to provide services to clients in residential and community settings. You will support families, coordinate care, and contribute to treatment planning, aiming to meet weekly productivity targets.

The role requires experience with children and families, strong communication skills, and flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or related human services field.
  2. Licensure: None required.

Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the Agency’s insurance company. Must have reliable transportation.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Therapeutic Behavioral Service (TBS) Specialist, under the administrative/clinical supervision of the Clinical Director of Clinical Services, provides Therapeutic Behavioral Services to clients, their families, and/or significant others as needed. He or she works with clients in residential and community settings, and works to provide support – including education and consultation – for parents and/or caregivers, case coordination, and symptom management and monitoring. The TBS Specialist is expected to meet the program’s productivity target for billable service each week. Services take place in the office, the home, and the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
  1. Accept assignment of cases from the supervisor to provide Therapeutic Behavioral Services for clients, their families, and/or significant others as needed, including: community organizations, schools, other health and social service professionals, the justice system, and other agencies involved with the client.
  2. Accept case assignments – stepping down from a higher level of care – from the clinical supervisor and jointly develop tasks and interventions that implement treatment goals.
  3. Provide Therapeutic Behavioral Services including, but not limited to:
    1. development/review of the client’s treatment plan
    2. crisis work – providing assistance and support in crisis situations
    3. support, including education and consultation for families and/or significant others regarding the client’s mental illness
    4. individual interventions
    5. symptom monitoring and self-management of symptoms
    6. assistance in increasing social support skills and networks
    7. coordination of necessary evaluations and assessments, including referral and linkage to other healthcare, behavioral health care, and non-health care services
    8. necessary follow-up to determine if services are adequately meeting the needs of the client
    9. access to resources in the community
  4. Provide services to each client in accordance with medical necessity and as outlined in the client’s treatment plan.
  5. Protect clients from physical and emotional harm emanating from themselves, others, or the environment including use of the Therapeutic Crisis Model of Intervention, utilizing physical restraints as necessary.
  6. Recognize the significance of the parent and/or caregiver in the client’s life and demonstrate the skills to engage the client, primary family, and other supportive adults in the treatment planning process.
  7. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  8. Work a flexible workweek which can include evenings and weekends.
OTHER DUTIES
  1. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  2. All required trainings, certifications, and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  3. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  4. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  5. Other duties as assigned by management.
