Job summary

The City of New York Health Department is seeking a Public Health Epidemiologist to oversee TB surveillance activities, data quality, and interjurisdictional referrals. This role supports the TB registry and Maven workflow, coordinating with city, state, and international partners.

Responsibilities include data exchange, referral management, and hotline responses. The position emphasizes collaboration, policy-informed analysis, and maintaining high standards of epidemiologic investigation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in epidemiology, public health with a concentration in epidemiology, or a health-related field with minimum of 6 graduate credits in epidemiology and 6 additional graduate credits in epidemiology or biostatistics.
• Bachelor's degree plus two years of full-time paid experience in data collection and interpretation of medical charts for surveillance and epidemiologic investigations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison to city, state, and international jurisdictions.
• Send and receive data to other jurisdictions as required by protocol.
• Ensure timely processing of all referrals for TB patients entering and leaving NYC.
• Track all patients referred or received from other jurisdictions.
• Monitor and update Maven workflows to ensure data quality.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners of the agency.
• Respond to the TB Hotline calls from healthcare providers outside NYC.
• Other duties as required.
