Job summary

MIKID in Arizona is seeking a Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Specialist to support youth ages 13–26 in building independent living skills. Under the Direct Service Manager, you will provide one-on-one guidance, mentorship, and help youth in foster care or Title 19 programs develop budgeting, employment readiness, housing navigation, and self-advocacy.

This role requires travel up to 50% across the community, strong communication, documentation, and collaboration with schools and partners.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• AZ Driver's License and Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
• Minimum one year of experience in behavioral health or related field.
• Peer Support Certification preferred or eligible to enroll in certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Transport youth to community or center-based services up to 50% travel.
• Provide one-on-one guidance and mentorship to youth 13–26, including those in foster care.
• Conduct assessments and create individualized transition plans with measurable goals.
• Facilitate group workshops and collaborate with schools and community partners.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in required trainings.

Under the direction of the Direct Service Manager, you will provide one-on-one guidance and mentorship—particularly to youth involved in foster care, DDD (Developmental Disabilities Division), and Title 19 programs—while helping them develop essential life skills such as budgeting, employment readiness, housing navigation, and self-advocacy. You will conduct assessments, create individualized transition plans with measurable goals, facilitate group workshops, and collaborate with community partners and schools to ensure comprehensive support. Maintaining accurate documentation, completing required training, monitoring program effectiveness, and incorporating best practices into service delivery are key responsibilities.

Requirements

• This role requires transporting youth to community or center-based services and working from various locations within the community, with travel up to 50% of the time.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, AZ Driver's License, Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, and have at least one year of experience in behavioral health or a related field.
• Peer Support Certification, or candidates who meet the qualifications to enroll in the certification course, is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational abilities, proficiency with Microsoft products, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are required.
• Bilingual skills are preferred.
• The position demands flexibility and the ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions.
• Physical requirements include prolonged sitting, frequent standing and walking, bending and stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasional stair climbing.
