The Federal/State & Special Audit Section (FSSAS) is looking for Tax Technicians who are up to the challenge of working in a forward focused, fast paced, team environment. We have multiple opportunities available within our Assessment and Resolution Groups.
Working under the general direction of an Administrator I and with support from a technical lead, the incumbent is responsible for conducting detailed technical examinations using data from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and California tax returns. These examinations lead to the issuance of Notices of Proposed Assessments (NPA) and Notices of Action (NOA). Additionally, the incumbent manages and resolves correspondence associated with these examinations, ensuring all issues are addressed efficiently and effectively.

  • Working knowledge of FTB Systems including but not limited to Taxpayer Folder (TPF), Case Management (CM), Taxpayer Information (TI) System, and the Business Entities Tax System (BETS)
  • Familiarity with basic California and Federal Income Tax Returns and schedules
  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
