Role Description:

We are seeking a Tax Supervisor to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for performing tax engagements with minimum supervision, but with Tax Manager and Partner support. This role requires direct client contact and relationship management. The ideal candidate will review complex federal and state tax returns for C Corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships, Trusts, and Individuals.

This role requires applying technical knowledge and research skills while working as part of a team with a focus on continual improvement, Staff mentorship, coaching and training.

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise, direct, and mentor Interns, Staff and Senior Staff Accountants
  2. Review basic and moderately complex tax returns
  3. Prepare returns as needed
  4. Prepares/reviews deferred tax calculations
  5. Prepares/reviews accrual to cash conversions
  6. Understands consolidated tax return mechanics
  7. Initiates quarterly and year-end tax planning discussions
  8. Ability to identify and communicate open items and obtain items from the client
  9. Ability to navigate and utilize tax research tools and resources
  10. Understanding of tax theories and when and why to apply
  11. Develop and maintain excellent client relationships through superior customer service
  12. Serve as a client contact on related matters and directly interact with client owners and management
  13. Recognize and resolve or elevate potential or existing problems with appropriate research and consulting, as necessary
  14. Consulting, working with, and servicing client base to make recommendations on business improvement and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to clients
  15. Assist in the development and execution of department’s various training programs
  16. Set and monitor staff scheduling and workloads
  17. Encourage the continuous technical and soft-skill development of staff by providing timely feedback on engagements
  18. Participate in recruitment events

Required Experience:

  1. CPA or CPA track with 3+ years of progressive CPA firm experience
  2. BS in Accounting, MSA or MBA preferred
  3. Ability to adjust schedule based on peak workload times in the department
